Lichen Planus
Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the skin and mucous membranes. Its exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to be related to an autoimmune response where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues.

Signs & Symptoms

- Scalp Involvement
- Genital Lesions: Affecting the vulva or penis, causing discomfort and erosions.
Treatment
- Topical Treatments: Corticosteroid creams and ointments to reduce inflammation and itching.
- Oral Medications: For severe cases, oral corticosteroids or immune-modulating drugs.
- Phototherapy: Light therapy may be helpful for widespread lichen planus.
- Lifestyle and Home Remedies: Avoiding triggers, practicing good oral hygiene, and using soothing lotions.
Prognosis
- Lichen planus is not contagious and can sometimes resolve on its own within months to a few years.
- Chronic cases may require long-term management to control symptoms.
